Suspected Killer of Well Liked San Pedrano Wanted In Canada
posted (March 21, 2017)
It has been 11 months since San Pedro's Star Footballer Melvin Almendarez was murdered, and his suspected killer Canadian resident Jordan Bacchus, is still on the run. According to an online news article in the Toronto Sun, Bacchus is believed to be hiding out in Canada. Although Bacchus had surrendered all this travel documents during the court proceedings, he still found his way out of Belize. In the article it says that Toronto detectives have searched a number of home addresses linked to Bacchus but he wasn't at any of the locations. He is wanted in Toronto for a number of firearm related offenses. So, the hunt for Bacchus continues.

Melvin Almendarez was killed in May 2016. Police believe he was run over by a golf cart before he was shot and killed. As we have reported last year, there is compelling evidence that ties Bacchus to the Almendarez's murder including bloody clothes at his residence, blood at the bottom of his golf cart, hair specimens from the victim on his belongings plus a positive test result for gun powder on his hands. But Bacchus simply got away after facing a minor drug charge.

In 2016, Emanuel Pech reported on what an oustanding member of his community he was, and how shocking his death was:

Kent "Bob" Gabourel, Sports Coordinator
"I went with the intention 'I hope it's not him, I don't want it to be him, I hope'. So when we got to the feeder Road and walked a couple meters in, flashed the light and I saw the body there crouching position. I was looking and was like 'no this can't be'. The police man asked if its him and I said 'yeah'. I held my head and was like 'no this can't be' and said 'yes officer this is Melvin; this is Catracho'."

"He played a big role in our community, trying to uplift sports in our community with the kids so it's a big loss to the community and the kids."

The 31 year old Almendarez was the father of 3.
