The new prices for locally produced soft drinks and beer went into effect on Saturday. With the new sin tax, every Bowen and Bowen drink, hard or soft has increased by about 25 cents across the board. That's except for Lighthouse Beer and Guinness Stout - which the company has kept at the same price. But, we're told many retailers have still tacked on the extra 25 cents unto those brews. The local importer of Pepsi has told us that he plans to increase his suggested retail price by 25 cents as well.
As for Rum…well that's a harder one to predict. Prices have gone up by - we are told - close to five dollars a quarter - but some wholesalers are telling us that discussions on a final price are still underway.
