Benign BEL Doesn't Ask For Rate Increase In Annual Review
posted (April 11, 2017)
It's time for BEL's annual tariff review - but instead of asking for a higher charge per kilowatttt hour, the company says it wants the same rate.

The utility which has government as the majority shareholder - submitted its annual review to the PUC asking to leave the Mean Electricity Rate virtually unchanged at $0.3695 per kilowatt hour. It does not propose any changes to other fees and charges to customers.

But it is asking for all Industrial Customers to be put in a single category; right now they are spread out across "Industrial 1 and 2".

And in what could be bad news for BTL and Cable providers, a release says, quote, "The Company is also seeking PUC's clarification of the rental fee for attachments by other utilities on BEL poles."

The PUC will make the final decision on whether the average rate per kilowatt hour remains unchanged.
