Broaster Will Be PD’s Third In Command
posted (April 12, 2017)

We also got an opportunity to speak with Assistant Commissioner of Police Edward Broaster, who is also being transferred. He’s leaving behind the command of the Rural Eastern Division, to take over as commander of operations in Belmopan, which is effectively third in command of the entire police department.

So, when we met him at another event, we asked him about the promotion, but he was very careful the comments he made:

Daniel Ortiz
"Is this a promotion in terms of the field of responsibilities you will now hold come in a few months’ time?"

ACP Edward Broaster - OC, Rural Eastern Division
"I believe the commissioner of police has commented on that issue and at this I will not comment on that but all I can say is that the move will definitely improve the security concerns of the citizenry of Belize."

Daniel Ortiz
"Now sir no one ever leaves a post completely satisfied with how they left it but I'm sure you have seen inroads. Are there specific areas you see that rural eastern division needs drastic improvement that you were unable to get to in the time you've served here?"

ACP Edward Broaster
"I believe the time that I've served here we have made drastic improvement. I am confident that when I leave that the men and women under my command will continue the good work with the community and continue the community policing efforts that the commissioner of police has chartered us to carry out. This is a policy that has been in effect for over 4 years now and I believe that it is only right that as commanders we train our people and we get our people professional to the point that when we leave we have no fear that they will continue the good work with the community and build that relationship."

Broaster took over Eastern Division Rural back in July of 2015.  He will be succeeded in the Rural area by Senior Superintendent Alden Dawson.
