In other news from our interview with the Prime Minister, we got an update on one more piece of multi million dollar litigation against the government. That's the Glen Godfrey Case, where he is seeking to collect 22 million US dollars in a US court.
Last month, the Prime Minister insisted that Glenn Godfrey had so far only won a minor victory in the US courts.
Well, Godfrey won another victory on Wednesday from the 11th Circuit US Court of Appeal. The US Court refused an application from the Government of Belize to reconsider its decision in the case that Godfrey is pursuing against the Barrow Administration.
This fight in court is over equipment that Godfrey's failed telecommunications company, Intelco, leased to the Musa Administration. Godfrey's claim asserts that the Government hasn't finished paying what it owes in the agreement that former PUP Minister Ralph Fonseca signed on behalf of Belize.
So, now, the Government will have to face the allegation in the US court that they owe Godfrey this money. The press asked the Prime Minister about the effect of this mounting case,:

"Again, I am not sure if Mr. Godfrey were to win how he would propose to collect on that judgement, except he brings it to Belize and that would start the process all over again and I would not be at all convinced that he would get that favorable result even in terms of that preliminary issue. I am not convinced that he would get that sort of result here in Belize that he got in the US."
