They were remanded because Rhys was charged with aggravated burglary while his girlfriend was charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary. They pled not guilty, but Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser said she could not offer bail because a firearm was involved.

The incident allegedly occurred on May 22. Businessman Mario Galvez, told police that he was at home when Garcia called him, first by cellular phone and then at his house. He said that when he opened the front door he was attacked by Rhys and three men. He claims one of his attackers had a firearm. Galvez said the men stole his wallet which contained $600 dollars and some personal documents. In court, Garcia said that Galvez's story was a fabrication and that he made it up to try and get rid of Rhys. A medico-legal form was attached to the court book and in it Galvez's injuries were classified as harm.
