Furious Infighting In FFB In Advance of Election
posted (June 6, 2017)
Elections for a new FFB president are coming up later this month - but a rash of infighting has broken out and there's fierce jostling for control of the country's most powerful sports federation.

7News has seen a flurry letters alleging corruption, bribery and other offenses in a bid to keep one candidate out. Additionally, three would-be candidates have been barred from running. And, now, even the sports council has gotten involved to caution the FFB about heavy handed tactics.

The strongest letter is dated May 26th., and in it, the General Secretary of the Federation Michael Blease accuses Sergio Chuc - who was running for president and vice president - of bribery, conflict of interest, offer and acceptance of gifts, and corruption, quote, "all with the end of having the election swayed in your favor," end quote.

In that same latter, the General Secretary says it will seek to have Chuc disqualified form running because of the alleged wrongdoing. The letter was copied to higher-ups in FIFA.

Now, the FFB's Disciplinary Committee met to consider those allegations of wrongdoing, and basically threw them out. They didn't find, quote, "an iota of evidence…to consider a prima facie case against Mr. Chuc."

But still ,the FFB Electoral Committee has rejected Chuc's application to offer himself as a candidate for president and vice president. We are told that Chuc has retained an attorney to challenge that rejection.
