All this week we've been reporting on the heavy feuding inside the Football Federation of Belize. It's because elections are coming up a little over two weeks - and two candidates, Sergio Chuc and Cruz Gamez have been barred from running. That has caused great division inside the Federation, and great rancor. Many are blaming FFB General Secretary Michael Blease, who - as chief enforcer - has no shortage of enemies within football circles.
And, it seems that last night, someone really took it too far when they tried to set his pickup on fire. It happened at his home in the King's Park area of Belize City where a relative told us he came home at around 3:00 in the morning. He forgot his laptop in his Black Wingle pickup and when he went downstairs to get it he found that someone had smashed the back right window, and put a lighter or some other incendiary inside to try and set the truck seat on fire. By some miracle it didn't catch, and the vehicle was damaged but not burnt.
Elections are set for June 24th.
