Octogenarian Stabbed In OW

And, from Corozal, we take you now to Orange Walk Town, where there was an apparent random stabbing of an 84 year-old man. He's a business man, and on Saturday, he was attacked by a young man. According police investigation, the assault was unprovoked, and tonight, the octogenarian is in a critical condition at the KHMH.

This afternoon, the Commanding Officer of the Orange Walk Police Station gave the press a briefing on the case:

"Police visited Mr. Pablo Reyes, a 40 years old business man Progress St, Orange Walk Town. Where on arrival they observe a drop of blood on the entrance of the said establishment, as well as a kitchen knife which had an 8 inch blade. Investigation reveals that that Mr. Pablo Reyes was standing in front of his establishment when a young male person approached him, stabbed him to his left arm and twice to his abdomen area and the person left walking. Statements were recorded, the scene was processed, where police recovered the knife which was labeled as exhibit. Mr. Reyes was transferred to Northern Regional Hospital, later to KHMH where he is in a critical but stable condition."

Police have since arrested and charged the 23 year-old Orange Walk resident, Nigel Guerra. The cops say that they have encountered him before for reports of violent behavior, but this is the first incident for which he has been charged.
