FFB Blasts Chuc, At Length
posted (June 14, 2017)

For the past 2 nights, we’ve been telling you about former FFB Vice President Sergio Chuc, who is being blocked from running for president.

He claims that his political opponent, Ruperto Vicente, unfairly accused him of bribery, which derailed his candidacy. He referred to the upcoming election as “riggedâ€￾, and the FFB has released a statement saying that he is misrepresenting the facts - and they want a public trial by press release.

In a tedious 800-word disquisition, the FFB executive points out that Chuc has focused on one part of the letter from the Disciplinary Committee to make his case, while excluding the more important portions.

That letter said that there is not an “iota of evidenceâ€￾ that Chuc bribed anyone.

The FFB makes that point that absence of this “iota of evidenceâ€￾ actually means that the Disciplinary Committee didn’t bother to investigate the case since they couldn’t adjudicate it.

The FFB Executive also insists that Chuc was given his due process to challenge the Electoral Committee’s decision at the appeals committee, so they disagree that he was treated unfairly.

The FFB executive says that the Annual Congress must happen on June 24, and they are hoping that the congress members will show up. Their press release says, quote, â€œShould the members of FFB - on the inaccurate portrayal of events from Mr. Chuc - choose to boycott the Congress, this is indeed unfortunate and it again shows that FOOTBALL itself will never be able to advance in Belize where there are flagrant disregard for rule and regulations.â€￾ End quote.

The executive says that they are duty bound to call the annual congress, and if they don’t do so, the Federation will face great sanctions, possibly a suspension from FIFA. Funding from FIFA makes up 71% of the FFB’s budget for the administration of football countrywide.
