A Murder In Santa Elena

And back out West, a man was shot and killed in Santa Elena - the second murder in the Cayo district. Police don't have a motive at this time but here is what they had to say on this murder case.

ASP Daniel Itche, San Ignacio Police
"San Ignacio police visited the Novelos Convention Center compound in Santa Elena Town at the eastern end of the building the motionless body of a male person identified as Maynor Leonel Portillo, 20 years old Belizean laborer of Bradley's Bank area of Santa Elena Town was found in a sitting position leaning on the wall of the building with apparat gunshot wound to the head. The scene was processed and he was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival."

"Has a motive been establish for that murder?"

ASP Daniel Itche, San Ignacio Police
"We have not establish a motive as yet. Our investigators are actively pursuing the investigation. We have questioned several persons. I am requesting the public's assistance if they saw anything, come forward and let us know so that we can solve that murder."

"Is Portillo known to be involved in any drug or gang related...?"

"He have been arrested for drugs before."

Reporter
"Do you know what he was doing at that place at that time?"

ASP Daniel Itche, San Ignacio Police
"No."

Reporter
"Where he was before, or if he met with somebody in that area. What are the circumstances surrounding that?"

ASP Daniel Itche, San Ignacio Police
"No indication."

Portillo was caught with 100 pounds of weed near Teakettle Village in June of last year. Reports are that Portillo was killed as a result of a drug deal gone bad.
