More Accusations From Monsignor Romero Primary
posted (June 22, 2017)
Tonight we have more on the Valley of Peace case where the Principal of Monsignor Romero Roman Catholic Primary School was charged for sexual assault. The allegation is that Principal Johnny Valencia kissed a 13 year old student on the lips and tried to grab her buttocks. While Valencia was only charged for that case, an 11 year old student has come forward to say that Valencia allegedly kissed her on the lips in February. Tonight we start off with the 13 year old's allegation again followed by statements from the girl's mother. After that Valencia comes in denying the allegations and we also spoke to one of Valencia's colleagues who supports him. Here are those comments:

Courtney Weatherburne
"Just to clarify he was by the door and he grabbed you by your hand?"

Voice of: 13 year old girl
"No by my shoulders, two of them."

Courtney Weatherburne
"And then he kissed you on your lips."

Voice of: 13 year old girl
"Yes."

Courtney Weatherburne
"This was right by the door or this was inside the library, other people saw or?"

Voice of: 13 year old girl
"I don't know, I am not really sure he kinda like..yes between the door and then he grabbed me and pulled me in, it made me feel disgusted."

"I just hate him because of that and he did that to me and I know he has done it to many other girls before me and he is going to continue doing it if I don't do anything so I prefer to put my face or let them say anything about me because what I say is truth and what they say is lies so I will help other little girls to face this."

Voice of: Mother
"I put it up to her if she wanted to go through and go to police and everything and she said yes so I am standing right beside her. She is the brave one believe me I was scared because nobody wants to see their child after going through that to be victimized again over and over again by people who have no idea what this feels like."

"It is not about the sexual act in itself, it's how you affect them it's unbelievable that people at this day and age think it's okay to do those things to a child. You rob them of their innocence and you make them feel all sorts of things, this thing...they never heal, they stay with you for the rest of your life, you never trust nobody again because you feel like everything might do or harm you."

Voice of: Johnny Valencia
"Well in that case I will definitely say no to all those allegations because that has not really happened."

Mafalda Vasquez, Teacher
"I have been for 25 years, I have grown with Mr. Valencia, we have played, we have studied together and we have come a long time through together. I can't believe that this is going on in our school. We have had differences and all that but nothing so strong and so hard that is really hurting the reputation of our school."

Courtney Weatherburne
"So you believe that..or you don't believe these allegations?"

Mafalda Vasquez, Teacher
"I don't, I don't believe it, there is no room for that and I am very strongly with him because he needs a lot of help right now; all the support that we can get from everyone because the village doesn't believe it neither, I have spoken with different people and they don't believe that something like this could have happen."

"Mr. Valencia is really friendly with everybody and you know when something like that happen you start to think did I see something fishy but he is never with the young girls, he is always working on the compound doing things he is never at the office only if he has paper work to do. So when you see this you think of malicious things that you have seen but I have never seen something like that."

And regardless of the back and forth on both sides - this entire ordeal has affected the child and her family greatly - so much so that the girl has not returned to school since. She didn't even go to her own graduation ceremony which was held a couple days after the alleged incident. Here is the girl's mother on how painful this has been for them, especially her daughter.

Courtney Weatherburne
"And as you said she hasn't gotten her diploma or anything like as yet after that incident she came home and never returned to school."

Voice of: Mother
"I will never send her back to school he is there at school, I mean how can they allow him to be still at school at this very moment he is still in school. We didn't attend graduation because he was the one who was going to be there and I didn't want her near him at all and we still haven't gotten her diploma, we didn't go."

In terms of Valencia's court case, it has been adjourned until August 21st. As we told you Valencia remains the principal of the school. We will keep following this case.
