The press also asked Sergeant Valladarez for an update on that heist in which a Indian businessman was robbed at gunpoint of $54,000 cash in Ranchito Village.
It happened last Friday evening when the Corozal Store Manager, Avinash Deshmukh, came back from collecting the money from his wholesale and retail business in San Pedro Town. He landed at the Ranchito Airstrip, and was just about to get into his vehicle, when 2 men jumped out of a vehicle parked behind him. They held him up at gunpoint and stole the backpack he was carrying the money in. Before fleeing the scene, they struck him in the back of the head with the weapon
The the CIB's Commanding officer from Corozal told the media that they have seen surveillance footage of the robbery in progress, but it does not help them much:

"So far we have gotten a copy of the surveillance video. It shows the actual robbery taking place. The video is not of a hundred percent clarity, but you can make out 2 persons approaching the vehicle where the Indian businessman was. The attack is on the video and it is seen when they fled the area."
"However, since it's not clear enough we cannot make out much of it. No license plates for the vehicle, the color does not show very well likewise and we haven't gotten any further information from anyone out there to suggest yes it's this person or yes it's this vehicle. But we are still following on all leads. Again, all I could ask the public is to please call in, let us know what if anything you know of the robbery and definitely we will look after that."

"Well up to today I am still of that opinion that it looks like an inside job. Again, if you were to view the video then definitely you would appreciate that."
The police are still looking for leads to follow on the case, and they are hoping that persons with information on this robbery will come forward and help them solve it.
