Today the Belize and California Branches of the Association of Justices of the Peace donated almost 1500 medical scrubs to the Ministry of Health. The scrubs will be distributed to various public hospitals across the country and BERT. A handing over ceremony was held today, where President of the Association, Danny Madrid, and Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, told us why they do want scrubs...

"Now today we are here presenting to the Ministry of Heath, 1,479 pieces of uniforms for doctors and nurses. This is just the beginning. I believe that through the California chapter we will be able to do more donations to our fellow Belizeans. As we speak the California chapter is preparing to donate a container of some wheel chairs which we know we have done our survey and we know that this is very necessary and needed in Belize. So we are happy to say that that is is the other project that we will be doing and we have other projects that we are thinking about, but today we are here to represent these uniforms to the Ministry of Health."

"The donation today represents issues where we can work in partnership with the community because I know that primarily the Ministry of Health, Karl Heusner is heavily targeted in terms of what we lack, what we don't do, so we intend to have a negative aspects which are primarily highlighted but I think elements such as the one we are addressing today are an opportunity as to the way I see it is the community contributing back to ensure that we are able to work. You are right in that scrubs and gowns are going to be made available are primarily for use within the hospital setting and it's good that we have the quality assurance person here, scrubs shouldn't be out in the streets therefore use it inside the hospital."
The donation is valued at about $6600 dollars.
