Man Hit With “Two By Four” Succumbs
posted (July 24, 2017)
So, while San Ignacio Police are investigating the fatal beatdown of Marlon Peters, Belize City Police are investigating the murder of 22 year-old Trevaun Chee. It is believed that he was hit in the head by a "two by four."

It happened at around 2:00 on Friday afternoon when Chee was walking on Mahogany Street. Police investigations say that he was a short distance from his Mahogany Street Extension Home when he encountered a 17 year-old male. The two had some sort of confrontation, which escalated when the minor grabbed the plank of wood and lashed him in the right side of the head.

He was rushed to the KHMH, but his medical condition deteriorated, and on Sunday, he passed away.

Today, we spoke with one of the investigators on the case, and here's what he told us:

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, Investigator - CIB Precinct 3
"On Friday, about two-ten p.m., police responded to a person suffering from injuries on the Mahogany Street Extension. When police arrived, they discovered Trevaun Chee, a twenty-two-year-old resident of a Mahogany Street address, suffering from injuries to the right side of his shoulder and the right side of his face."

"He was transported to the K.H.M.H. and was admitted for treatment on Saturday. When he was admitted he was responsive and on Saturday, his condition went critical condition and on Sunday, about 7p.m. he passed away at the hospital."

"Police have so far detained a minor in regards to this incident and we have collected relevant statements and those statements have been forwarded to the D.P.P. and we are awaiting her directives on how we proceed. The deceased Mr. Chee was traveling on Mahogany Street and encountered the minor. There was a provocation of sort and that resulted in the minor allegedly inflicting the injuries on Mr. Chee."

We spoke to Chee's mother and father who declined comment.

Police have the minor in custody, and at this time he is being questioned by police.

We have spoken with Sgt. Brent Hamilton, who was once in charge of Community police in the Mahogany Street area. He had a brief, 6-month encounter with Chee as part of his youth outreach program, and Hamilton told us that his impression of with the young man was that he was trying his best to avoid the street life. Hamilton said that Chee appeared very disciplined, and showed no signs of negativity. We're told that he was a career chef.
