No Albert Reciprocity For Philloughby?
posted (July 24, 2017)
On Friday's news, you may have heard UDP Mayoral aspirant Phillip Willoughby waxing poetic about why he's the best UDP candidate for the job. But things hit a little rough patch when we asked him about the last time he stepped aside as a candidate to make way for someone else. That was in the Albert Division in 2015 - when he abandoned his candidacy for that division to let Tracey Teagar-Panton run.

The man we lovingly call "Philloughby" took one for the team, and in return he was supposed to get a diplomatic posting in Chicago - which never worked out. So, at least, you'd think he could expect some reciprocity from Taegar-Panton. So then you can imagine our surprise when we saw her on Facebook with her committee hugging up with Willoughby;s opponent, Dion Leslie.

Willoughby told us on Friday he would have expected support from Taegar-Panton.

Phillip Willoughby, City Councillor
"I hope that they see they see it as a reciprocal relationship, that I supported and worked tireless for the honorable minister Tracey Taegar Panton and I am not saying that it is mandatory, I am not saying she should, but I humbly ask for her support and I believe it should be reciprocated, that's fair play. But if not, then the people of Albert will then decide that. But then how you do go to Albert's and say not support Phillip Willloughby? That's rather a difficult job to do."

Apparently, not a hard thing for Taegar-Panton, because Leslie writes on his Facebook page: "With immense appreciation, I thank the UDP Albert Constituency's Executive Committee, led by their Area Representative, Hon. Tracy Taegar Panton, for their unanimous endorsement of my candidacy!"
