"Sometime around 7:30 this morning we received a call that there were gunshots being fired in the Costa Rica Extension area. We immediately proceeded to that area and unfortunately on our arrival we found who we know as Mr. Samuel Mendez. He appeared to be dead on the street. He had several gunshots wounds to the upper part of the body. We immediately sprung into operation to investigate the case and we have a person of interest in custody. We are looking for another. We've done some house searches, we've recorded a few statements and based on what we have now, we now know that it might have been a previous misunderstanding that caused this incident to occur. But we will do everything within our power to try to bring closure to this case. I feel that we could make an arrest very soon based on what we know so far."
Mendes turned 21 five days ago.
As police said, they have a suspect - and hope to make an arrest soon.
