Storm Seasoned San Pedranos Cool, Calm
posted (August 7, 2017)
And, what about San Pedro, Ambergris Caye? Well, the storm tracked north of that island some time ago, but, again, the other bands could still affect it. The NEMO Coordinator told us via phone that everyone there is calm, collected and ready:...

Vanessa Parham, NEMO Coord., San Pedro
"The weather right now is an overcast at the moment with light rain. There are some residents on bath islands of Caye Caulker and San Pedro who have already taken the necessary precautions - they are boarding up their places. When it comes to the shelters, at San Pedro Island, the San Pedro High School has already been open as a shelter and at Caye Caulker, the community center above the village council is being open as a shelter."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"Would you say people are anxious and worried or calm and prepared?"

Vanessa Parham, NEMO Coord., San Pedro
"The residents from both islands - they are no strangers to tropical storms or hurricanes. They are very cautious and these people out here are prepared."

We'll have more on TROPICAL storm Franklin later in the news.
