Canadian Woman Deported For Abduction of Her Own Child
posted (August 9, 2017)

Today, Belizean law enforcement closed the case on a high profile custody battle out of Canada. It involves this 4-year-old Canadian child, Treyson Trockstad-Greenway, who was taken out of his home city of Lethbridge, Alberta, by his biological mother Robin Leanne Greenway Trockstad.

She had been on the run with her son since January 2014, when she relocated to Belize with the child. Canadian missing persons reports say that Robin Trockstad fled with her baby while she was in a custody battle with the child’s biological father. He has since won sole custody of Baby Treyson, which made the mother, Robin Trockstad, a fugitive. She is wanted for the charge of Abduction in Contravention of a Custody Order, and for years, she had been quietly living in Cayo.

That’s until 15 days ago, when she was picked up by Belize law enforcement. Best information to 7News is that the biological father came to Belize to get his son. So, what about Robin Trockstad? Well, Belize Immigration deported her to Canada today, where she will have to answer to Canadian police.

But, back in Cayo, the friends and allies she made while staying Belize are definitely not happy. Until the last moment, when she was put on a plane out of Belize, they tried their best to intercede on her behalf with the Immigration officers handling the case, but that was to no avail.

This morning, Cornelius Dueck, one of Robin’s friends, spoke with us and explained why he and the other Canadian Belizeans who know Robin are not happy how this matter has ended:

Cornelius Dueck - Friend of Robin
"She came to Belize almost like a refugee. She was afraid of her husband mistreating her, and he was demanding her son. She ran away from Canada for refuge. She has been here about 5 or 6 years."

Daniel Ortiz
"She has her son with her?"

Cornelius Dueck
"Yes, she has her son with her, all the time."

Daniel Ortiz
"What is the situation with the Immigration Department wanting to deport her back to Canada?"

Cornelius Dueck
"They had an Interpol [listing] against her because the father was claiming custody of the child, which I understand he got. He's here in Belize right now, and he's about to take his son back to Canada."

Daniel Ortiz
"And the Belizean authorities have her detained, right?"

Cornelius Dueck
"They had her detained, but they basically said that they had nothing against her because Belize has no treaty with Canada for extradition, and she paid up all her fines, and according to the system she should be free."

Daniel Ortiz
"So, where his she right now?"

Cornelius Dueck
"I think she just left on the plane."

Daniel Ortiz
"Back to Canada?"

Cornelius Dueck
"That's right."

Daniel Ortiz
"Is it an unfortunate situation for you and your friends that Ms. Robin is being forced to leave?"

Cornelius Dueck
"All of the Canadian society, our community in Belize, they are all upset with the Canadian Government that they are so stupid. They hate it because she is so wrongfully being taken back to Canada. She has done nothing wrong. She lived partly in hiding. She didn't come out in the open. I haven't seen her for the last 3 years, but she had her means of finance, and she was doing fine. It’s about 15 days ago that she was detained, but Interpol had a listing for her, we knew that for a couple years already."

As you saw, Robin Trockstad flew out of the country on the United Airlines flight before midday. Reports from the organization, Missing Children Society of Canada, were that she while in Belize, she was spotted in Belmopan and Spanish Lookout. She had been living under different aliases, variation of her names: “Robin Trockstad, Robin Greenway, and Jen Friesenâ€￾.
