Did Someone Shoot At the Ministry Of Agriculture
posted (August 10, 2017)
Was someone trying to send a message to the Lands Department in Belmopan? That's what some have concluded after this apparent bullet hole was found this morning in the glass at the office of the Agriculture Department. The building on "Queen Elizabeth the Second Boulevard" houses both the Lands and Agriculture Ministries - and the puncture hole was seen on a window on the side of the Agriculture Department. But it used to be the Lands Department and some suggest that rather than just idle vandalism - it could be a message sent. That office area was used by to the Commissioner of Lands a couple years ago.

And while that's all the speculation, the facts are these: no one was hurt; the hole was seen this morning when employees got to work; the watchman said he didn't hear anything; Belmopan police sent a scenes of crime team which reports that they didn't find any bullet fragment or find any additional damage inside that would be consistent with a shot fired. That team also carried a metal detector to look for a slug or a fragment in the opposite wall, but it didn't find anything metallic. So, the scenes of crime team took a swab of the hole which will be sent for testing and will give police a better idea as to what caused the break in the glass. Belmopan police say they are determined to do everything to uncover what actually occurred.

One other police theory is that the hole may have happened some time ago, but the window was covered by a curtain and no one saw it until today.
