And Belize City accounts for 37% of the imprisonment rate but Murrillo says other districts are following closely behind.

"When you compare the district last year with this year for the same period we saw that Belmopan had a slight reduction, Belize City had a little reduction, nothing much to talk about Corozal…but if you look at Independence it shot through the roof along with San Pedro. I think I saw a news article the other day that said that San Pedro is a little Belize they say, little Belize City, San Ignacio saw a reduction as well as like I said Belmopan."
