Bus Dispute, Machetes Drawn
posted (August 10, 2017)
And two northern bus drivers could have used some of that unarmed jujitsu on Saturday in Belize City. That's when they had a machete confrontation with the driver from a competing bus line.

It happened right on East Collet Canal on Saturday at midday. The two men with machetes in their hands work for Cabrera's Bus Line. They confronted the driver of Kamal's bus line. The reason? Just like that road-hogging bus we showed you last week, they're competing for passengers.

Seems Kamal - which leaves the city half an hour before Cabrera's, has a habit of hanging back and parking on the side of the canal to steal the passengers who would otherwise go in the Cabrera's bus. The Cabrera driver and conductor had enough of it and they confronted their competitor.

Fortunately police were on hand - and while a uniformed officer failed to take away the machetes, another cop, in civilian clothes quickly grabbed the machetes and defused the situation.
