BSCAP Says, See Ya Shyne!
posted (August 11, 2017)
Last night, we told you how Shyne Barrow abruptly resigned from his post as CEO of B-SCAP. That's after he complained that the Chairwoman was claiming exorbitant fees for her expenses and earnings.

So, Shyne is out, and his exit brings the organization into disrepute, because his allegations suggest that the artists aren't getting any real financial benefits that copyright protection should be affording them.

Shyne made a Facebook post today which says, quote, "I always said on record that as CEO of BSCAP I would never tolerate a situation where all we are doing is paying administrative costs….After looking at the 2016 financial statement presented by my predecessor and current BSCAP chairwoman I have lost all confidence that BSCAP will indeed get the money to the artists." End quote.

And in a late evening update, about half hour before the start of news, the BSCAP Board sent out a release acknowledging receipt of Shyne's resignation letter.

His resignation is being accepted, but the board that they are "highly disappointed and saddened by what it says is the way Shyne Handled it.

The board then squarely addresses the allegation that he is making. Their statement says, quote, "With respect to the wildly inflammatory, misleading and inappropriate comments being made by Mr. Barrow, the BSCAP Board takes the position that as an international organization, it is best that we deal with Mr. Barrow's allegations outside of the media, so that we can preserve the integrity of the organization...And since Mr. Barrow has been very vocal about his priority being the artists, we remain hopeful that he will reconsider the negative impact his words are having on all that has been accomplished to date" End quote.

The Board asserts that his Shyne's allegations are "100% false", and that they are willing to release audited financials to support their position.
