posted (August 15, 2017)
And to update a story we had at the top of the last segment, a customs joint law enforcement team shot a man in the area of Santa Cruz Village near Botes, Mexico this evening. New information says that police cannot confirm at this time whether it was a BDF soldier or a customs officer who shot Orange Walk resident Dwayne Almendarez.

According to latest information from CTV-3, there was a confrontation between Orange Walk residents and lawmen from the BDF and Customs department somewhere along the road from Santa Cruz Village to Orange Walk town. CTV-3 reports that that Customs and BDF officials were searching a bus traveling towards Orange Walk Town for uncustomed goods, the situation then allegedly took a turn for the worst as passengers of the bus reportedly attempted to attack officers, who then allegedly discharged several shots.

CTV-3 reports that four of those shots found their target on Orange Walk resident Dwayne Almendarez, who was among the crowd. Almendarez is currently at the Northern Regional Hospital being treated for his injuries.
