UDP Belmopan City Councillor Ana Banner Guy tried valiantly to fight the UDP establishment when she ran her candidacy outside the chosen slate - but she came 200 votes short in the convention.  So, her candidacy - while valiant - was ultimately failed - and observers say she ended up on the outside because she supported Patrick Faber when he and John Saldivar went head to head for the UDP’s Deputy Leadership.  Saldivar has rejected that narrative, but Faber still has Banner - Guy’s back.  He told us he hope she will see this as a learning experience:…

"It is my hope that Ms. Anna will see the loss, although I don't really wish to call it a loss, I think it is a lesson and I'm hoping that she will use that lesson. The way I use the lesson back some 4 years ago when I was first defeated in my race for deputy leadership, as a learning experience and then you regroup and you come back even stronger."
