The Peculiar Case of Mesop
posted (August 28, 2017)
The convention itself raises lots of questions, not least is the peculiarity of the Mesopotamia division. As you saw, the area representative, Michael Finnegan declared himself neutral, and Willoughby won that area. But the man who wants to be his successor, Shyne Barrow wasn't neutral at all - he was out there batting hard for Dion Leslie. So what does it mean, then that Willoughby won the area? That's what we asked Finnegan:...

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"Your nephew Mr. Shyne Barrow who hopes to take over the Mesopotamia, he was batting hard for Dion Leslie and you said in a race without any interference from you he lost. That's not a good sign."

Hon. Michael Finnegan, UDP Mesopotamia Rep.
"But I don't now how hard he worked. I don't know what they put in and how hard they worked. So I cannot really comment on that. Maybe they say they worked and they don't really worked."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"It's not a promising start."

Hon. Michael Finnegan, UDP Mesopotamia Rep.
"I don't see that anything to worry about. The result of the election that will not reflect on Shyne, no which way and Willougby was a strong candidate in those areas, especially the black areas. I am telling you he was a candidate."
