Cops Need Help To I-D Body Found In Macal

Cayo police need your help to identify the body of a murder victim. The body was found floating in the Macal river near the New Santa Elena/San Ignacio bridge yesterday afternoon. The post mortem shows that the dark skinned man was stabbed to death and left for dead underneath the new Cayo bridge. Police today called on anyone with information to assist:

"San Ignacio police visited the bank of the Macal River about 500 yards down from the new bridge where the body of a male person was seen floating face down in the middle of the river. The body was retrieved and it was in a state of decomposition. It was dressed only in a long black pants without shirt. He was seen with a cut wound to upper left side of his back, a cut wound to the forehead and a stab wound to the right upper chest and a stab wound to the right hand. The person is yet unidentified."

"The body has a tattooed rosary coming down his chest with a cross in the middle. It has the name "Dian" with 13 stars around it on the left upper shoulder, the name Emanuel on the left inner wrist and a curved scar on the left foot. We are asking the public's assistance in providing us with any information regarding the identity of this person and also any information in regards to the investigation of his death."

Police are also looking into several angles in this case, including the possibility that the body could have floated down from Guatemala. Police say they have contacted their counterparts in Benque to assist in this case. Police also say that they have no missing person's report matching the dead man's description.
