And, Immigration Director Locke is hoping that the government will soon launch a new type of identification system which should hopefully insulate against fraud and forgery. She mentioned it again today in her testimony saying that this National ID System will allow for departments such as Vital Statistics, Social Security, Immigration, and Elections and Boundaries to verify the identities of citizens from one universal database:

"I do recognize that the Government is trying to - as I indicated the last time - look at a national identification system. And I think that from what has been presented to us, as the initial stages. I think it's a good idea. I think it would remove a lot of the issues that we independently face right now, because we're all going to be verifying against one source of data. And so, I think that is something that I would hope can actually be implement, because I think that this would help us to take this process much further along, and able to generate documents that can be considered secure."
