Belizean Caught With A Cool Million in Salvador
posted (September 13, 2017)
A Belizean caught with half a million US dollars in cash in El Salvador has ties to the Benque Viejo Free Zone, sources tell us.

Belizean Oscar Lesby Itza and Panamanian Adam Enrique Gutiérrez Morales were caught at the Oscar Romero Airport in San Salvador on Friday. Police saw them acting suspiciously, checked their bags and found $499,460 dollars in bulging packs of $20.00 and $ 50.00 dollars bills.

Salvador's Financial Investigation Unit charged them for money laundering.

News reports from Salvador say that the pair said that the money would be used to make payments in Panamanian banks. Those news reports say that the money belongs to a Belizean company and that the bills tested positive for cocaine.

Our sources say that Itza has ties to a big business owner in the zone, and he was taking the money to Panama to buy containers of Chinese cigarettes for importation into the zone. These cigarettes are then routinely smuggled into Guatemala.
