And while Belize's Prime Minister spoke glowingly of the future, one of his CARICOM Colleagues can hardly see past the present. That's Dominican PM, Roosevelt Skerrit. Three years ago, he was in Belize for the September 21st Ceremony, but 2017 finds him trying to manage the aftermath of the catastrophic Hurricane Maria on his small island state.
As we've reported, Skerrit had to be rescued from his own home after his roof blew off during the storm. But, that was just a small snapshot of the devastation that Maria wrought all across Dominica. Tonight 15 people are dead and many others missing. Yesterday in an emotional interview with ABS Television in nearby Antigua, Skerrit revisited the horror of Hurricane Maria.
That was Skerrit's first interview after the storm….
