Charged for Chow Mien Shenanigans
posted (September 29, 2017)
The police corporal who allegedly refused to pay for a chicken chow mein at New Asia Restaurant on Tuesday night and instead pulled his gun on the restaurant owners, a patron, and the security guard went to court today.

39 year old Steven Parham was charged with aggravated assault and discharging a firearm in public when he appeared today before Magistrate Michelle Trapp.

Parham who was in Belize City for training in the GREAT program is attached to the San Ignacio police station. He pled not guilty to the charges but because it is a firearm offence, he was remanded into custody until November 22.

But, that's not where the story ends - because his attorney Oscar Selgado did manage to get bail this afternoon. By 1:15, Selgado - may have pulled together one of the quickest bail applications ever. With that, he got a hearing before Justice Antoinette Moore who granted him bail of $5,000 dollars. The bail has stringent conditions attached - but the Corporal is no doubt happy to accept those at home tonight, rather than spending the first night of a week in jail.
