Students Ready to Rumble, Ministry Says Go Right Ahead
posted (September 29, 2017)
While there are many questions about the Kelvin Usher saga, one thing that's not being questioned, is that there is a portion of the student body at SJCJC which is ready to mobilize in protest against what they see as an uncaring police department and government.

Only days to come will tell if it proves to be a real headache for the government - but today, the Chief Education Officer said that - as a matter of principle - they encourage independent thinking and critical thought:...

"It was something that where we see students walking out of classrooms, some from the University of Belize as well to go and basically do a demonstration on the bridge and through the streets of Belize City. The Ministry's take in that in terms of students standing up for what they feel is right."

Dr. Carol Babb, Chief Education Officer
"The Ministry, we teach children. Out hope is that they become critical thinkers and we want them to be independent thinkers and if they feel that Kelvin needed support, we are not against that."
