39 Court Arbitrators Sworn In
posted (October 3, 2017)
Many times on this newscast, we've talked about the backlog of cases in the courts. Using court appointed arbitrators is seen as a major way of getting those cases disposed of more expeditiously.

Towards that end, today, 39 Arbitrators were sworn in as Court-Connected Arbitrators before Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin.

The list includes many lawyers, senior counsels, magistrates and former magistrates. They were selected under and rigorous vetting process by the Courts National Mediation/ Arbitration Committee.

Chairman of the Court's Mediation and Arbitration program, Justice Courtney Abel, told the Arbitrators that it's a serious responsibility and he hopes that they take it seriously.

They were trained and certified by regional experts and will be guided by newly added Arbitration rules of the Civil Procedure Rules of Belize.
