Orange Walk Killer Shot Him In Back
posted (October 10, 2017)
So, from that climate of gang related tension in the city, we take you now to the Orange walk street slaying of 42 year-old Daniel Carrillo.

He was shot and killed at around 1:00 on Sunday morning, while he was walking on Mopan Street. That's a short distance from his workplace, where he was socializing with family and friends, while finishing up some tasks.

It is believed that he received a phone call just before he left, without saying where he was going. He went to a nearby Chinese Shop, and on the way back, he was shot by a gunman, who opened fire on him while his back was turned.

Today, our colleagues at CTV3 News spoke off-camera with his brother about violent killing:

Voice of: Brother of the Deceased
"He was socializing with some friends and my family, when he decided to go to the shop. That was around 1-1:15 in the morning, Sunday morning, and he just didn't say where he was going. He placed his phone on the table, and he went to the Chinese Shop. When he was coming back, we don't know if he get into an altercation, but he looked like the guy just rode by, and shot him 9 times on the left back part of his body, his head, and his back. He fell, and the guy just rode off and went."

"I can't say he was an angel. He was - he had his attitude, but it wasn't like he was looking for trouble, and well, he got into a big fight that ended up this way."

"He went on Friday to visit my mom, and all he said was that he was behaving good, and that she didn't need to worry about him. He was working, not getting into any trouble, and that he was heading from his work to his apartment, and not to worry about it. He went, and he didn't come back."

"He was a fun guy to be around. He's always looking to take out some talk out of you. If you're sad, he's going to be looking for a way to get you to talk, to get you relax your mind. And when you're socializing, it's very fun because he's gonna be laughing. And yea, he had his attitude, like everybody has an attitude, but I don't think that it was a lot to tolerate like that."

"Most of the time, they don't find the culprit, always, they do their stuff, and they just stay like that, but we are not looking for no retaliation or nothing like that. The guy who did it, all could say is that he was a coward, because he shoot my brother in the back, and he didn't have the balls to face him, face to face. He killed my brother like a coward, and well, all I could say is that it is in his conscience, and he's going to deal with. All the sins of my brother, he took it."

Police say that he passed away while undergoing treatment at the Northern Regional Hospital about 20 minutes after he was shot multiple times.
