When Canadian Gabriel Bocchnia was killed in front of his Corozal home last week - his family recognized the shooter as someone known to them as "Polo".
Well, police were quick to detain 52 year old Apolonio Kiou, also known as Apolonio or Polo Cervera. The president of Santa Rita Road in Corozal town was charged last night and arraigned for murder today in Magistrate's Court. He was remanded to prison. Our records show that 12 years ago in 2005, Cervera was charged for the robbery of a Police Constable Morris Martinez who was found murdered. One of his accomplices was charged for the murder.
In this case, police would not discuss a motive for Cervera's very bold act to kill Bocchnia in front of his wife and three children. He also tried to kill his wife, but the gun snapped.
