posted (October 10, 2017)
In early September we told you about the attack on well know Haitian taxi driver Joseph Ducey. He was shot in the head and survived. Well two more robbers tried to steal from him last night but again, Ducey scared them off - he shot one of them in the shoulder. Here is how he described the encounter.

Joseph Duce, Survived burglary attempt
"By 2:00, 10 to 2 I heard a sound on my verandah upstairs, I heard the sound again and I just pull out my firearm and just come out and check as I open the door I bump into the perpetrator right there when he is wiggling because he wiggling, when is wiggling maybe he has something I don't know what he got but all I do, I try to stop him if he got anything so he doesn't kill me or hurt my family."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"So you shot him on his shoulder."

Joseph Duce
"Right around here yeah."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"So they passed this door right there?"

Joseph Duce
"Yes they open the door."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"And you usually have that locked right?"

Joseph Duce
"Locked, always locked I don't know if they pick it or if they pass all of this right here and then they go in there. Well they say they come because somebody sent them."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"That is what they told you?"

Joseph Duce
"Yes the guy that I caught, he say he talked to people and he say they sent him because I have a lot of money. I owe, I have a next van I am renting to own, something I can't pay like yesterday, today I didn't make a dollar, last week I didn't make one. If I had money, I would sit at home."

"They tried to rob me in 2009, then in 1993 they came to rob me right there in Hattieville in my shop and I survive."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"Many, many attempts."

Joseph Duce
"You know if I wasn't innocent I would have been dead especially the last time when the man shot me in my head."

Courtney Weatherburne, reporter
"Are you afraid that the next time the robbers come or they come to get you, you might not be as lucky and they might shoot you?"

Joseph Duce
"I believe I will always survive, once a survivor, always a survivor."

Ducey's grandkids were inside asleep when the robbers came to the house. After he shot one of the men in the shoulder he ran off along with the other robber.

As you heard, on September 17th, one of the robbers shot Ducey in the head, but he recovered. That attack happened in broad day light. As you heard, robbers tried to steal from him in 1993 and then in 2009 and twice this year so far.
