27 year old Jason Almendarez was killed in broad daylight yesterday at a neighborhood restaurant. At 2:15, he was buying lunch just a few blocks from his home in the St. Martin's area - when a gunman came up and shot him in the head. He survived for three hours and died at five to six yesterday evening at the KHMH.
Today his mother refused to comment, but reports from the area say that it was a dispute over money with a relative that led to his execution. Police haven't released any information on possible suspects.
His was the second murder in the city in less than 24 hours. His mother says he was not involved in any gang.
