There was an armed robbery this morning in Punta Gorda Town today where the female shopkeeper was chopped multiple times. Between 8:00 and 9:00, two men with masks and machetes stormed into Blue Sky Store on the town's Main Street. They held up the couple who run the store, and the husband put up a fight. His wife came from the back and tried to help and that's when she got chopped. Her husband rushed to rescue her and the men broke into the cash register and ran off with a few hundred dollars and a cell phone.
But police were quick to respond and reports are that two suspects have already been detained and could be charged as early as tomorrow. Police also recovered one of their knapsacks along with a number of stolen items. One of the men had scratches which he got in the scuffle with the man who runs the shop.
As for the victim, she is in the PG Hospital receiving treatment for her injuries. Her husband did not receive any significant injuries.
