Saldivar Says Post-Convention Wounds Will Heal
posted (October 19, 2017)
And finally from Saldivar, we also asked him to comment on Sunday's UDP municipal convention in Dangriga. The slate that Area Representative Frank Pawpa Mena supported lost and Mena then made his displeasure known on his Facebook page. He alleged that his own UDP colleagues bought out the convention saying, "it's a shame ... you have to use money to buy my people. Sad that they don't know how you only care for your agenda and your racist needs. That's politics."

Now, the background to this is that Deputy Party Leader Patrick Faber backed the winning slate, because Mena is an ally of John Saldivar.

But, today Saldivar just brushed it off as just minor bickering - the kind he says is quite normal after any convention.

Hon. John Saldivar, Minister of National Security
"As far as I am concerned I believe that emotions ran high after the convention and that is all it was I don't think that we should take any more out of it than that. I am sure with time wounds will be healed and I don't know there is any particular in-fighting that can be refereed to at this time expect the results of a convention usually has some acrimony and that is all it was."
