A Norteno’s Dream: Imagine There’s No Border
posted (October 23, 2017)
And, later on, in the debate over the Immigration Amendment Bill - opposition Leader Briceno floated an idea that's sure to get some traction in the north: no more checking in at the border when going to Mexico:

Hon. John Briceno, Leader of the Opposition
"Maybe it is since we are looking at that amendment, maybe we also need to look at amending the immigration law of this having Belizean citizens leaving the border and every time they leave the border they have to stamp their passports."

"I think that Belizeans should be allowed to leave the country freely and the stamping of passports is just a waste of time and it creates an unnecessary bottleneck at the borders."

Hon. Beverly Williams, Minister of State - Immigration
"That is a matter that is will prescribe for in the law that the borders are defined under section 23 and 24 of the act on the scanning. Immigration responsibility also covers the border protection and we look at the risks that could be involved in persons trafficking the border in and out without stamping and without the matter of human trafficking, money laundering and all the other ills that can happen from not manning our borders."
