Cardinal Clings To Life
posted (October 26, 2017)
And the latest victim of violent crime in the St. Martin's area is 28-year-old Cardinal Andrews. As we reported last night, he was shot to the head in broad daylight on Partridge Street.

Tonight, despite the fact of a bullet wound that penetrated his skull, he is clinging to life. Not much was known about the young Andrews yesterday but today we learned a little bit more. Even though his family is not ready to appear on camera they were still willing to share some information about their loved one. Sahar Vasquez reports:

Sahar Vasquez reporting
Yesterday evening at around 4:00, 28-year-old Cardinal Andrews was sitting on the trunk of a light blue Toyota Tercel car outside a friend's house. That's when a man who was reportedly riding a bicycle fired one precise head shot that took Andrews down in a heartbeat. Area residents rushed to help, while others stood by in stunned disbelief.

The police arrived on the scene shortly after. Police and civilians carted the unconscious Andrews into the pan of the police truck where he lay motionless.

Bystanders watched as an unconscious Andrews was rushed to the KHMH where he currently remains in critical condition hanging on to life by a thread.

His relatives say Andrews graduated from Wesley College as the Valedictorian and was a cool, easygoing person, not known to surround himself with any bad company. He recently got a job at WASA and was working to support his young daughter and girlfriend.

Now, he's on life support - and could become just another statistic in the relentless gang war in the St. Martin's area.

The gunman has not been identified as police continue to investigate.
