Couple Caught In Hit And Run: Wife Dies, Husband Survives
posted (October 30, 2017)
There was a fatal accident on the Southern Highway on Saturday night. It left Mellisa Dorothy Murillo dead and her 35 year old husband Allen Andrews in the hospital. It happened between miles 11 and 12, which is between Sitee River and Silk Grass villages. The couple were on a motorbike. Best information is that Andrews had stopped to fix something on the bike, when a pickup hit them, and then drove off. Dorothy Murillo was flung to the side of the road and died on the spot, while Allen Andrews is in a stable condition at the Southern Regional Hospital.

He told police that the pickup came out of nowhere and rear ended the motorbike - but police note that the impact on the cycle is on the front wheel; the back is intact.

Police had first reported it as a collision, but at this time it is being treated as a hit and run. Today, the head of crimes investigation said police need your help in finding the truck:

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head - Nat'l Crimes Investigation
"Dangriga police is investigating it as traffic accident, but it is an open investigation and they are appealing to the public for any assistance they can get in solving this matter. The police are looking for a white pick-up possibly double wheel at the back. They are following several leads, but are still open to any other information which can assist in the investigation."

The couple is from Sittee River Village. Again, police are asking your help if you have seen a dually type pickup truck - that's the one with four wheels at the back. Police say the pickup would definitely have front end damage, because they found parts of it at the scene.
