UDP Party Whip Michael Finnegan shared similar sentiments with us this evening in an interview. Here's what he had to say about the man he called, "a UDP intellect":

"The United Democratic Party, we have lost a soldier. We lost an intellect, a political intellect that we'll not be able to replace. We have lost a political lion, and we mourn the passing of Ryan Swift."

"What were your interactions with him like?"

"Ryan and I were extremely close. We were close, especially, on Sundays, when I would have to pick him up at Central American Boulevard, over the last 3 years, and we'd journey here to Albert Street to attend mass at 8 o'clock at Wesley Church. That was our Sunday morning routine, and from there, we go to Biltmore to have breakfast. But, the everyday, every week political discourse that we meet around the table, and we talk and work out strategies, and lean on his capacity to think out the issues, I will miss, and I know that the United Democratic Party will miss immensely."

"We understand that he was a key campaigner for the current Deputy Prime Minister in his bid for the Deputy Leadership of the UDP."

"Ryan is a key campaigner for every United Democratic Party candidate, as long as you contest elections for the United Democratic Party, Ryan played an important role with every candidate, not only the Leader, or the Deputy Leader, but with everybody."

On their Facebook page, the UDP said, quote, "Ryan will be remembered for always displaying passion in his personal and professional life, as well as in being a great supporter of our party." End quote.
