Alfonso Reaches A Settlement
posted (November 7, 2017)
Back in December it made major news when UDP personality Alfonso Noble, was charged with manslaughter by negligence for the accident which killed Hattieville resident Gilbert Myers. Well, we've since learned that the victim's family has received a settlement for the death of their loved one.

Information to 7News is that Andrea Corrin-Myers filed a civil suit in the Supreme Court claiming damages for his death. After months of back-and-forth where they tried to settle it out of court, both parties agreed on a final resolution for an equitable compensation. We do not know the final figure, but we're told that it's over a hundred thousand dollars.

And while that civil suit against Noble ends amicably, it may also play a significant role in the criminal prosecution that he is still facing. He is out on bail at this time for the charges of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, and failing to provide specimen to police for testing.

At the next adjournment of the case at the Magistrate's Court, Noble's attorneys may opt to introduce the facts of this civil suit settlement, which could factor into the way the case proceeds.

The fatal accident happened on Christmas Eve last year between miles 3 and 4 on the George Price Highway. Noble was heading to his home in the Mile 8 community when he knocked down Myers who was riding a bike in the same direction. Myers died from his injuries.
