BEL Back To BVI
posted (November 8, 2017)
6 days ago, we told you how the BDF deployed a platoon of 35 soldiers to Dominica to assist with the recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria. Well, BEL HAS deployed a second team of linesmen to the British Virgin Islands to help in recovery after both Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated that island territory.

The first BEL team of 5 who left for the British Virgin Islands in September, returned yesterday, after being stationed in Virgin Gorda for 6 weeks.

The second team is comprised of Wayne Lewis, Gregory Kerr, Manuel Lopez, Paul McCalla, and George Neal. They will be stationed in the British Virgin Islands for 4 weeks, and will assist CARILEC in the ongoing efforts to restore the country's entire electricity grid. At this moment, only 25% of their power system has been restored.
