The murder of 18 year old Benque Viejo Resident Oscar Obando is also unsolved. The teenager was found dead on Monday on a farm near the Belize Guatemala border. He had been fatally shot to the chest. Police say he had been in Melchor before his death:

"We understand that on Sunday he was last seen at a barber shop at around 1 pm. Thereafter the surveillance footage at the Belize Western Border Station showed him crossing the border at around 5. That was the last sighting of him- of him going across to Melchor- until they found the body on the following day."
