Calling All Actors
posted (November 9, 2017)
We told you yesterday about an opportunity for Belizeans to audition for a major television show called Life or Death this weekend. Well, that's not the only opportunity this weekend's film festival has to offer. For all Belizeans interested in pursuing acting as a career, a class will be held over the weekend. It will be led by Panamanian actor named Jaime Newball who is here promoting his film "Sale-si-Puedes" which has received critical acclaim in the Caribbean and Central America. This afternoon he told us more about what he will be teaching at the class.

Jaime Newball, Actor
"We are going to do workshops on how to prepare actors so they can be able to do auditions because when it comes to projects and especially films the actors always need to be prepared. There is a special way that you can embrace a good audition so we are looking to give some tools so the actors or those people that are trying to be professional actors they have the opportunity to have a role or a play in an audition for films."

"This is a career so that means the moment when you decide you have the guts or the feeling to go after this as a profession you always need to be prepared. The more you can study, the more you can understand how to create characters, how to have more tools in the process, and how to get to understand the psychological and then you can have more opportunity for jobs and work and then it comes with a good audition and how to promote yourself outside."

The workshop will take place at the Mexico Institute of Culture on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm. It is free and all Belizeans are invited. And on Sunday, along with the Life or Death audition, another audition for a Mexican project will be held.
