7News has confirmed that Yuanran Zheng, the Chinese National who tried to get a Social Security card with a bogus nationality document, has left the country.

As we told you last night, the Immigration Department issued an order to leave after he pleaded guilty at the Magistrates Court to Immigration and Social Security offences. Well, that OTL was activated today, but we are told that he was also ready to leave. The Director Of Immigration confirms that that he flew out of the country to Canada, instead of going to the US. It appears that he wanted to avoid any possible legal troubles in the US.

As we told you, immigration records show that he arrived in Belize for the first time on Sunday, November 5. One day later, he showed up to the Belmopan Social Security Board Office with a translator, Zheng Hui Lin who is a well known Taiwanese Belizean from Camalote.

They were using the nationality document to apply for a Belize Social Security Card, but SSB employees doubted the authenticity of the document. So, they called in the Immigration Department, who confirmed that his Belize Nationality Certificate was a forgery of one of the old types of certificates, without any security features.

They charged him and his Taiwanese Belizean translator for uttering upon a forged document, and they pleaded to the charges on Tuesday in the Belmopan Magistrate's Court. After paying a thousand dollar fine, Zheng was detained once again, and, on Thursday, he was arraigned for the forged document, but this time it was an offence against the Social Security Act.

After he pleaded not guilty yesterday, he went back before the Magistrate and changed his plea, accepting guilt and paying an 800 dollar fine. He was held in detention until today, which is when he left the country.

For police it's just the tip of the iceberg, as we are told that under questioning, certain names and immigration operations were disclosed. Police also searched Lin's house in Camalote where they found copies of a Social Security Card.
