UDP Albert Rep Says She Is Against Fleecing, Would Vote Against
posted (November 23, 2017)
And the member for the Albert Division, Tracey Taegar - Panton says she joined the UDP to stand against corruption - and if she votes for this, it would be supporting what she calls the fleecing of public funds:...

Hon. Tracy Taegar Panton, UDP Albert
"I feel very strongly about it, Jules. I think the only word I can use to describe it is criminal. It is no secret that I come from a family that supported the People's United Party, and one of the reasons I made a decision to run under a UDP umbrella was because of the fleecing of public finances under the PUP administration. So I am very clear on my view on this matter. It was an illegal act as far as I am concerned and there is no way that this administration should be made to pay for an act that I clearly believe was illegal and a fleecing of public funds."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"This will come to parliament for parliament to approve the payment of 90 million. Would you vote against it even if your own Prime Minister and minister of finance brings it?"

Hon. Tracy Taegar Panton, UDP Albert
"Yes, I feel very strongly about it. I am very clear on my view. I am a team player, but at some point we need to stand up for the people. And this is best of time as any to stand up for the voters in the Albert constituency."

Jules Vasquez
"Even if it means not voting in support of a motion brought by the Prime Minister, your Prime Minister?"

Hon. Tracy Taegar Panton, UDP Albert
"At the end of the day, we're each generals in terms of the constituencies we serve and from the feedback I have gotten from the members of my consistency they certainly are asking that I vote no. You can look at my Facebook page, how many letters I have received today from members of the constituency asking for a 'no' vote. You have to vote your conscience, and from what I have read of the judgement and I am still working through the judgement there is no other way I can vote at this point in time but no."
