53 year old Clinton Arthur Davis was found dead on his property at mile 4 on the Western Highway today - right beside Old Belize. Davis was last seen on Tuesday and since then his family had been looking for him. Well at midday they found his body thrown in the swamp. 7News was first on the scene and Courtney Weatherburne has the story:

Clinton Arthur Davis had been living on this seafront property for about 32 years. He developed this prime land into his estate - an area he called Davis Beach.
Davis cared for and protected his land because it meant so much to him. But it's on that same property that he was found dead this afternoon.
Shocked and dismayed, Davis' family try to find comfort in each other's arms.

"He is out there in the swamp. It look like they killed him somewhere and they came and dump him here."
Davis' family says that the workers from the neighboring boat yard alerted police to the body. They rushed over to identify him because he had been missing since Tuesday.

"I last saw my father on Tuesday evening. We last spoke at the Pound Yard. He told me he would go buy somethings for tea and he will head home. I came home the same Tuesday night and my father wasn't here. I asked friends and they told me they haven't seen him. They say that I must have my mother make a report, because that is not my father. I call and call him phone and I get only voicemail."
According to Davis' wife, his death has to do with an ongoing family land dispute.

"My husband is the developer of the property. We bought it from the government as a lease and put it into title. As we got it into title they boy started to attack us. He threatened my husband more than one time - every Sunday he come. We tried to work with him, but he still bring gang boys and they come at our house to threaten us."
That has led the family to believe that Davis was killed.

"He was murdered sir, yes he was murdered. I don't have any doubt about that."
Now Davis' wife has to face the harsh reality of life without him.
Alice May Davis, Wife
"I don't have any money to bury my husband. I don't have any money because I am in debt to my neck. I have a daughter in 4th form. I graduate 4 of them. The last one is in 4th form at the Wesley College and I am trying to see my way."
When we spoke to the family this evening they hadn't gotten the post mortem results as yet. As you heard they are convinced Davis was murdered.
The first police report was issued just a few minutes ago. It says the partially decomposed body was found about 150 yards off the highway with an abrasion to the forehead.
Davis was the father of four children. We will keep following the story.
